Lyttklton, this day. A lad named Abbott, 11 years, son of the night watchman at the wharf, was playing in front of a house where, furniture was being removed. Four dynamite caps fell out from among the goods, and the boy picked one up, commencing tapping it upon the fence, when it exploded, shattering the left hand badly. He was attended by Drs. -Pairman and Guthrie, and it was found necessary to amputate four of the fingers.
