Wellington, this da}*. Mb James Mackay, retiring principal of the Wellington College, was presented with a testimonial, dessertservice, and liquor stand by his old pupils. Mr Mackay, who retires owing to difference with the College governor, said, in replying, that he ha J been teaching for 35 years, and it had remained for him at Wellington to be hit below tho belt. He intimated that he would probably leave for America.
