CHRISTMAS DAY.

Christmas Bkeakfast.—Early rising i 8 conducive to health and health to a good appetite, so those so disposed cannot do better than join in the Christmas breakfast at the y.M.C.A. Rooms, 8 a.m., with addresses and music, for one shilling. Rev. W. J. Mayers will give an address and sing several sacred solos. Devonpokt Wesleyan.— A Christmas thanksgiving, service will be held in the Devonporfc Weeleyan Church at 11 a.m. Special sermon by fche Roy. J. Ward. St. James's Hall.—Ab 10 a.m. there should be a crowded audience ab St. James's.Hall to hear Lake's beautiful cantata, " The Blessing of the Children," by an efiiciont choir and orchestra, under Mill. Walton. The cantata will be followed by a concerb in which hymns, choruses, solos, etc., will be sung. Collection at the close. Beresfobjd-street Chukch.—"The Messiah " will be rendered ab the Beresi'ordstreet Church on Christmas night, commencing at 7.45 p.m., by the church choir and fiiondfl. Mr R. Walton will wield the baton, Mr C. Hemus will lead the orchestra, and Mr J. P. Hooton will officiate as organist. There will be no charge for admission, but a collection to defray expenses. Gkafton Road Church.—There will also be a performance of , " The Messiah "at the Graftoa Road Church, commencing at 8 p.m., by a large choir and orchestra, led by Mr E. J. Gutland. Admission is free, bub those wishing to contribute will have an opportunity of doing so in the usual way. Salvation* Army. —The. Salvation Army will have a grand demonstration at the Barracks on Christmas Day at 11 a.m., 3 p.m., and 7.45 p.m. Fkhky Steamkk Excursions. — The Dovonport Ferry Company announce that on Christmas Day there will be steamers running to St. Ilelier's Bay. In the afternoon the Eaglo will cruise round the Islands in the Gulf, with Hunter'c Artillery Band on board, and in tho evening will cruiso round the harbour. The ftoamor will be illuminated with electric light, and HunterVßaud will bo in attendance. Tiumway . Service.—Messrs Paterson and Co. announce special arrangements for Christmas Day. TLoir Mounb Roskill, Mounfc Edon, and Arch Hill 'buses will now run. Trams and 'buses will run at intervals to and from Ponaonby, Epsom, Avondale, Mount Albert and New Lynn, as per advertisement. , KowALSivi Concert Company.—lt is probably superfluous to remind our readers thab the Kowalski Concert; Company open at the City Hull on Christmas night. Their programme is a mo3t attractive one, including some very lino sacred gems by celebratod composers. With nuch performers as Henri Kowalski, Mies Bertha Rossow, Herr Pechot3ch and Madam Vandarveer Greene, who come to us with excellent credentials, success should be assured. The box plan is open at U'ildman and Lyell'tf. Band Performance. — The following programme will be performed by the Newton Band to-morrow afternoon (Christmas Day), commencing at 3 p*m. in the Albert Park : — Two glees, " Forgive Blest Shade," "The Cloud Capped Towers;" chorus, " And the Glory ot the Lord ;" set of 6 hymns from Ancient and Modern hymn book, selection, "Elijah;" chorus, " Tho Heavens are Telling ;" anthem, "Ho Every one That Thirsteth ;" selection, "The Last Judgment;" anthem, "At Anchor Laid ;" " God Save the Queen."
