The benefit conferred on blood stock throughout Auatralia by the introduction of Musket it is impossible to estimate. The brilliant careers of Carbine, Nordenfeldb and Martini-Henry will perpetuate the name of Musket. For some years pasb Musket has headed the list of winning sires in Australia, and he now comes again to the front with £17,587 to his credit, made up by six winners of 24 events. From the English papers to hand, the Jockey Club hae decided to create two new races at Newmarket, the value of each to be 10,000aovs. The first race is to be run at the July meeting, 1894, and the second at the October meeting of the same year. The Master of the Hounds has made many attempts to land the coveted honour, but ib was not till Saturday laeb that he was successful. Mr C. Gordon rode the horse in good style. A good feature in Jim's •victory lay in the fact that the horse had been fairly hunted during the season.

In the race for the Caulfield Guineas, Sbromboli came on towards the distance apparently with the race 'in hand, but the moment McGowan moved on Strathmore the colt shot to the front, and had Stromboli in difficulties. The horse was a deal fancied in Auckland, and some of the pencillers have been struck nearly to the full extent of their books. G'Naroo has been a well-kept horse, and is trained at Caulfield by thenatty-lookiugFoulsham, of Malua and Silvermine fame. As a three-year-old. G'Naroo gave Vengeance a stone and five pounds and beat him over a mile and a-half in the Ballarat Cup. Hβ also won the Birthday Handicap in May lssb at Fletnington, carrying 7st 61b, and running the mile in 2min 374 sec. These are G'Naroo's two best public performances.
