Melbourne, this day. At Flemington this morning, Penance and Highborn finished eleven furlongs on the tan in 2tnin 33£ sec. Bel Giorno swung over a mile in Imin 51sec. The Tyler was treated to a sound gallop over once round, which he accomplished in 2min 40sec. He is a fine-looking horse, bub tired towards the end of the journey. Cobham, who appears to be very sore, traversed once round ab about evens. Gatling and Bungebah left five furlonge behind in Imin Carbine was again down, but waa restricted to walking exercise on the grass.
In consequence of having won a race ab the Oaklands Hunt Club races yesterday, Pigeontoe is being backed for the Melbourne Cup at 100 to 2.
Swordbearer has advanced for the Derby to 7 to 1.
