GRATTAN RIGGS.
RETURN TO THE COLONY.

Bluff, this day. Mr Grattan , Riogs. the favourite Irish comedian and character actor, has arrived here by the Te Anau, under engagement to Messrs MacMahon for three months to tour the principal towns of New Zealand. Mr Riggs will be seen in a number of fresh parts in - addition to those in which he is already popular in this country. Besides the " Irish Detective " and Boucicault's plays,Mr Riggs's repertoire now includes" Shadows of a Great City," a successful American play, which has enjoyed a long run in London; and "The English Rose," an Adelphi melodrama, which recently proved one of the foremost attractions to London play-goers, " Famine," a strong Irish drama, will also be presented by Mr Riggs. The season commences on Wednesday night at Dunodin with the first-named piece. The Company engaged by Messrs MacMahon to support Mr Riggs embraces among others Miss Maude Appleton, Messrs Robert Inman, Chas. Seagrave, Oily Deering, Alfred Boothman, Edwin Palmer. J. P. West, Messrs MacMahon are represented by Mr Wm, MacMahon and by Mr Austin Brereton, the well-known London journalist, who proposes writing a series of articles in thq Home papers on New Zealand. Mr MacMahon also brings with him one of Edison's latest perfected phonographs with a number of new records, which will be exhi» bited throughout New Zealand.
