Messrs H. W. Peabody and Co., of Now York, report under date September 12_h :— " Freights : The market continues firm and are being paid for vessels for aif deep sea voyages. Freight rates have nob advanced in proportion. We T|uote rate 3 for New Zealand ports, 17 to 18c."
The barquentine Elinor Vernon was to have left New York on September 20th for Dunedin and Auckland.
