We have been supplied by the Kuaotunu Quartz Crushing Company with a return of the ore crushou at the battery from fcho start in March last to tho end of September, and of the yield in retorted gold. It will bo seen by the tigurea which we publish below that the proapecis of the field proving permanent and payable are very tfood. Tho great drawback has been the bad state of the roads during tho winter, which has prevented tho battery working more than one-third of full time, However, fcbero is now a decided improvement in this respect, and tho management have put on three shitls and fully expect to keep the machinery running at its full working capacity duriug tho next six or seven months. In addition to tho above, several parcels havo been treatod at Curtis' battory, and tho Try Fluke battery has been constantly employed crushing for the Company with payable returns.

Seven designs wero recoived for the proposed annexe to the Art Gallery for tho McKelvie collection. These were examined lasb evening by the Special Commibtee, with the result that the design of Mr Charles Arnold was selected. It is proposed that tho fagade to the Albert Park should have two tablets on which are to bo inscribed the names of Mr McKeivio and other donors to the Art Gallery. The floor will be tiled or tesselated, and special care has been taken as regards making the building damp-proof, and also securing ample light.

The following officers wero elected ab tho Auckland Rowing Association's meeting last evening : —Patron, Chairman of the Harbour Board; Vice-Patron, the Mayor of Anckland ; President, Mr John Marshall; Vice-Presi-dents, Captain Farquhar, Messrs R. Monk, J. H. Coates, J. Palmer, A. H. Nathan and A. E. Devore; auditors, Messrs E. V\. Burgess and F. J. Sanderson. It was decided to amend the rules so as to give power to tho Committee bo offecb alterations in the regatta regulations. Mr 11. S. Ashton was reelected Secretary, and Mr D. Miller appointed Treasurer. Ib was decided to open the season by a procession of the boats of all the _ffiliated clubs in the harbour on October 21th. The date of the spring regatta was fixed for November 9th at Lake Takapuna.
