AN ILLICIT STILL.
A late sitting of the Courb took place at Hokianga yesterday, when Mr H. W. Bishop, R.M., was on the Bench. It was close on 11 o'clock at nighb when bhe Courb adjourned. William Vereker Bindon was charged wibh having an illicit still in his possession. Mr Hudson Williamson, Crown Prosecutor, appeared on behalf of tbe Collector of Customs. Hi 3 Worship ultimately inflicted a fin© of £75, including costs. Defendant was allowed six weeks in which to pay the amount and accordingly entered into bonds for that purpose. The default was three months' imprisonment. Of course tho articles seized were forfeited.
A case against J. C. Bindon, for being concerned in the removal of a still, was dismissed, His Worship considering that tlie evidence was not sufficiently strong to warrant conviction.
