NOTES FROM MELBOURNE.

Melbourne, last night.
At Caulfield this morning Gre}'gown ran five furlongs in 2min Tiraillerie and Renata going the same distance in 2min Vsec, and finishing splendidly. Malvolio did a mile and a-hal£ in 2min 47£ sec.
Tirailleur and Sternchaser did two medium rounds.
The following horses have been scratched: — Grenadier for the Caulfield Cup; and Wadsworth, Yolande, Dilisk, Grenadier, and Golden King for the Melbourne Cup. Propounder has been backed for the Caulfield Cup at 100 to 3. Strathmore has advanced to 100 to 10 (offered) for theV.R.C. Derby, after 1,000 to 140 had been taken.
Thousands to eighty are freely taken about Malvolio for tho Melbourne Cup. This movement has caused Megaphone to ease slightly.
