A tea and public meeting took place last nighb in the Foresters' Hall, Karangahape Road, in connection with tho second anniversary of the Newton branch of tho Salvation Army. Thero was a large attendance at tea, and ab the 8 o'clock public meeting the hall was crowded. Adjutant Bishop presided, and the programme consisted of music by the Army band, solos, hymns, and addresses by tho officers. The proceeds will be devoted towards the fund for erecting a now barracks in thab districb.
