THE MANIPUR AFFAIR.
TRIAL OF THE REGENT.
Calcutta, June 16.
The Regent of Manipur is now on his trial for complicity in the assassination of English officers. His defence is that his position was merely nominal, that he had no power, and was unable to stop the troops firing on the English force, or to punish the murderers. He appealed to the Court for mercy.
