Tiik Newmarket Stakes of 10,00030v5., by subscription of 30sovs. each ; for three-year-olds. Colts, 9st; fillies, Bst 91b. One and a-quarter miles. Mr Noel Fen wick's b f Mimi, by Barcaldine—dam by Lord Lyon—Sadie ... 1 Mr Daniel Cooper's b f Mdlody, by Tvncdale—Glee • 2
The winner, Mimi, ia a buy filly, by Barcaldine from a daughter of Lord Lyon and Sadie, and was bred by her owner, Mr N. Fenwick. During her two-year-old campaign she carried silk half a dozen times, and scored four winning brackets, and tho other day won the One Thousand Guineas. Melody, who ran second, is owned by Mr D. Cooper, the Australian sportsman, and was bred by Mr C. Blake in Ireland. She was at first called Canticle, but after Mr D. Cooper purchased her at the Newmarket sales in October, 1889, for 1,000 guineas, ho re-named her. Sho won two races last season, and acted as runner-up to Mim"i in the One Thousand Guineas.
