H.M.S. RAPID.
' This afternoon the last of the Australian squadron, Her Majesty's screw corvette cruiser Rapid, 1,420 tons, Captain W. M. F. Castle, left this port. She goes hence first to Norfolk Island, where she has been ordered to call to take on board Bishop Selwyn, of Melanesia, to Hobarb for medical attendance. The Bishop wao very ill ab latest advices, from malarial fever and sciatica, co much so that H.M.s. Orlando, which called at Norfolk Island, was unable to take him on to Sydney. From Norfolk Island the Rapid is to go direct to Hobart. Her officers and crew have had a very pleasant stay in Auckland. The old ship's commission is uoarly expired, and she is to bo reduced in rank on the station, Capfc. Castle being replaced by a lieutenant. She haa boon thoroughly overhauled and repaired while in dock here.
