Tho results of tho business for tho Fortyfireb Year, ending Slsb December, 1889, may be summarised as under :— FIRST—Tho number of the New Policies issued wae 11,684SECOND — The now Assurance business effected was for £5,0,%,^59. THIRD—Tho New Annual Premium Income amounted to J612L800, FOURTH-The net increaee to the business, after allowing for loss of income from terminated Policies, was represented by 7.028 Policiea, aesuring £8,100,189. FIFTH—The operations of the year raised the annual income of the Society from £1,513,280 to £1,625,185, an incrooso in twelve months of £112,905. SIXTH—The Accumulated Fund was increased during the year by the 6um of £•742,311, equal to *7l per cent, of tho jjroes premiums received. SEVENTH—The deaths among lives assured were 649 under policies, causing claims upon the Society amounting to £269,602, irrespective of Bonus additions, while the number expected according to the Tables used in estimating the liabilities would have boen 1,143, for an amount of £438,97Qi the mortality experience being thus extremely favourable. EIGHTH—The receipts from interest and rents wero £516,632, an amount exceeding tho sum paid for the claims by £133,952. NINTH—The expenses of Management were only 9"g per cent, of the total recoipte. TENTH—Tho cash surplus divided for tho year 1889 wae) £426,494, being at the rate of 416 per cent, on the premiums received.
