NORTHERN CLUB BALL.

Though so crowded that dancing was next to impossible, the Northern Club dance must be declared the dance of the season. There was a verve arid go about it perfectly irresistible, and fha arrangements of the Committee were so perfect that success was assured. The dining hall: was converted into a ball-room, dtid was nicely decorated with bunting. The floor was excellent, dnd the muaic above reproach. The sitEing-oufc room was abundant both upstairs and down, and the supper, which was served after the eighth dance, was done asi only the Northern Club could do ii The decorations were not particularly extensive, but eminently effective. They consisted mainly of bunting cunningly draped and arranged. The supper tables were laid in the strangers' room, and the smoke and magazine - room. The card - rooms were turned into smoking - room's for gentlemen. Tba ball-room was very crowded when, a few' minutes after nine, the vice-regal party arrived. The partyconsisted or His Excellency the Governor, Lady Onslow, Lord Admiral Chas. Scott, Lady Charles Scott, Miss Gardiner, Mr Walrond, and Captain Gublifie, A.D.C., and Flag-Lieutenant Fitzgerald.
