ACCIDENT AT ELLERSLIE RACECOURSE.
MR E. DA WES INJURED,
Shortly after eight o'clock this morning, an accident occurred on the Ellenslie Racecourse to Mr W. E. Dawes, who till a few weeks ago was proprietor of the Junction Hotel, Epsom. It appears that Mr Dawes was riding the pony Minnie Grey in a gallop on the training track, when she bolted, and ran through an adjacent gate. Dawes was thrown heavily against a post, with the result that he got badly bruised and cut about tho head. Soon after the accident, Dawes was conveyed in a cab to the Hospital, when it was found that no bones were brokei), but his knee joint was injured, while one eye was badly hurt.
