LATE SPORTING.
Yum Yvw and Fishmonger were scratched this morning at 9 o'clock for all engagements at the Avondale Autumn Meeting. ' According to the report of the proceedings at the Postal Conference held in Sydney, the Hon. J. G. Ward, the NewZealand I'cstmaster General, told his brother delegates that it is his intention to introduce into the New Zealand Parliament a bill to legalise sweeps in this colony.

The following are bhe nominators for the Egmonb Steeplechase : — Ingorangi, Sir Maurice, Jupiter, Sentinel, Dangerous, Waterbury, Kimberly, Whalebone, North, Matchless, Christmas, Yam Yum, Takapau, Nap, Ivy, Uranas.
