ANOTHER STRIKE.

OPERATIVE BOOTMAKERS OUT.

Another of those unfortunate struggles between employers and employees commenced this morning between the members of the Bootmakers' Operatives Union and the Auckland Boot Manufacturers' Association. A meeting of the Union was held last night in the Wesley Hall, when there was a large attendance, about 300 being presenb, Mr C. B. King presiding. The letter from the Manufacturers' Association rejecting tho federated statement, but at the same time offering to meet the men in conference for the consideration of a mutually agreed upon local statement, was discussed. It was resolved " That this Union declines to enter into any further correspondence with the Auckland Boot Manufacturers' Association re. proposed local statement, and that we decide to stand or fall by the statement already submitted as printed." An amount ol correspondence was read from Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin Federated Unions, which was of a satisfactory nature. The result of the above decision was that to-day the men came out on strike from ail those factories in which employers or managers had refused to sign tho statement submitted seven days ago. A strike committee of thirteen was appointed, and during the morning sat at the Beresford«street entrance of the Foresters' Hall, where tho names of the men on strike were enrolled as they arrived. The men simply went to the various factories this morning and brought away their private property. The following iirms are affected : — Northern Boot and Shoe Company, McArthur and Co., Foster's, Buckland, Sexton, Walker, Rhodes, Hoskins, Crown Boot Factory, Trenwith, and Parker, Green, and Co. The Boot Machinists' Union also held a mooting last night, when it was decided to supporb the Operative Bootmakers' Union in the presenb dispute. It is stated that telegrams have been received from tho Southern centres offering employment to any members of the Union, if they care to go South.
