AN INTERESTING WEDDING.
A very pleasing ceremony took place on I Thursday afternoon at St. Mary's Churci'i, ! when Miss Bes.-io Recs, the daughter ol ono of our Auckland M.H.R.'s, became the wife of Mr Hugh Lusk, ono of the rising young barristers of this city, and the eldest son of MrH. H. Lusk, now practising at ; tho Sydney bar. Tho we&thcr, which has lately resembled the law in its "glorious uncertainty," deigned to shine upon the nuptials of the happy pair. The sun streamed through the church windows upon tho bravo attire of the spectator?, and lib up an exceedingly pretty scene when the young couple plighted their troth. The bride looked charming in whito satin and orange blossoms. Her attendant maidens, the Misses Rees (3), Lusk, Fenton, and Geoigo, were also robed in white, with pale pink and paler green Liberty silk sashes. The bridegroom was attended by Mr E. McCausland (best man), Mr P. Lusk, Mr W. A. Knight, Mr N. Williams and Mr L. Meldrum. The first part of the service, which was most quiet and impressive throughout, was performed by the Revs, and Richards ".'.-. the ehancol steps, but at tho conclusion of the actual ceremony the party moved up to the altar mils. The groomsmen, in compliance with a wish that tlioy would not j bide tho principal group, remained where they wore. Whilo kneeling at the altar rails a hymn was sung, which has never before been heard in any Auckland church. It is said that the exquisite words wero written for the Duke of Portland's wedding and taken down in writing by a gentleman who was present. Thoso in church seemed thoroughly to realise—what is so often lost sight oi at a wedding—that they were taking part in a religious service, not merely a fashionable ceremony. Tho music, which added greatly to the enjoyment and completeness of the service, was ably supplied by Sir Robert Walker. A few minutes later the triumphant chords !of Mendelssohn's Wedding March asj cended from tho organ, and the bride passed down the church on her husband's arm to sign her maiden name for the last time in the vestry. Mr and Mrs Hugh Lusk are general favouritos, and wo aro sure everyono will wish them happiness in their married lite.
