Hale and others were speedily on the spot, which was nob far from where the missing boat's oar had been picked up by Air Hale. It is supposed thab the young fellow used the oar to support himself while making his struggle for life. The left arm of the corpse was in a cramped, bent position, while the right arm was straight. The watch in his pocket had stopped at a quarter-past eight o'clock. The remains were coffined and taken up in Mr R. Jeffries' boat last night to Captain Whitney's residence at Wairoa South. An inquest was to be held this morning.
