THE PERSIAN EMPIRE.
A wire from Mangonui, on the Northern Coast, states that a large full-rigged ship passed that port at 10.30 a.m. on Saturday, bound south, with a light wind. The vessel will in all probability prove to be the Persian Empire, 1532 tons, now fully due here from London, with a general cargo valued at £44,000. She was spoken on the Ist inst. by the s.s. Wakatipu. Sydney to Wellington. She should arrive to-night with a. favouring breeze. Light winds on the coast are reported within the last couple of days.
