TO-D AY'S RACES AT THE NORTH SHORE.

The first day's racing in connection with the Summer Mooting of the Takapuna Jockey Cab is taking place to-day on their prettily-situated course at tho North Shore. Lar;.;o crowds crossed in the ferry steamers this morning, and when the first raca started at one o'clock (half-an-hour alter the advertised time) there was a large attendance on the course. The racing track is in splendid order. Mr W. Blomiield has charge of tho totalisators, and Impey's fine baud is stationed on the enclosure in front of the grand stand. There was slight feeling over the result of the first races, the Maiden Plate. Tho winner, Ke;>;el, carried 131b overweight, and was ridden in the wrong colours.
