CORRESPONDENCE
FEMALE SLAVERY ?
(To the Editor.)
Sib, —I am not surprised at the nambypamby nonsense written by your correspondent, "5.5. R.," who has evidently no experience on the subject written upon, or he or she would write differently. If "S.S.R." would recollecb thab while masters and mietresßes have their duties, the domestic has also a duty to at least be truthful and honest, much mischief by ill advisers would, be prevented. Your
correspondent is most careful to ignore the main subject of my lefeter — the cessation of domestics being sent from Home, and the dislike of colonial girls for household work, Dob on grounds of long hours, because their scarcity (shown by numerous advertisements and large choice of situations) makes them master of the position. I speak from experience, not from sentimental twaddle, and in doing so I consider myself more of a real friend to this useful class than your correspondent. —I am, etc.. Paterfamilias.
