Considerarle interest is manifested in town in the visit of a British man-o'-war to Auckland again, and H.M.s. Curacoa having hitherto been a stranger to these waters, moro than ordinary curiosity is aroused in the ship and her officers. She is lying at anchor of tho Freezing Works Reclamation. Treherne was a midshipman on board H.M.s. Shah during the engagement with the Peruvian rebel burreb ship Huascar, off the town of Ylo on the 29th May, 1877. He was also sub-lieutenant of H.M.s. Temeraire during the Egyptian War of 1883, and holds the Egyptian raodal and Khedive's bronze sbar. vernon Maud was Bub-lieutenant of H.M.s. Decoy during the Egyptian War, 1882, and holds tho Egyptian medal and Khedive's bronze star, Hβ was lieutenant of H.M.s Cygnet during the operations in the Eastern Soudan at Suakin 1884-5, aud received the Suakin clasp. Staff-Paymaster William J. Nash was Assistant-Paymaster of H.M.s. Amethyst during the engagement with the Peruvian rebel turret ship Huascar, off Ylo, 29th May, 1877. The Chief Engineer, Thomas Morris, was Assistant Engineer of H.M.s. Ringdove, during .the operations in the Malay Poninsulii-, vPerak expedition of 1875-76, and holds the Perak medal and elaap. Assign ant . Paymaster Augustus H. Brigsbock was clerk of . H.M.s. Sultan at the bombardment of Alexandria, 11th July, 1882, and during the Egyptian war, aud holds the Egyptian medal, Alexandria clasp, and Khedive's bronze star. E. Covenay was boatswain of H.M.B. Malabar during tho Egyptian war, 1882, and has the Egyptian modal and Khedive's bronze star. Hβ was al«o boatswain of H.M.a. Euryalus, flagship during the operations in the Eastern Soudan, st Suakin, 1884, and has the Suakin clasp.
