FOUND DEAD.
A GUMDIGGER'S END. On Wednesday an inquest was held at the residence of Mr James Jordan, Whangaparaoa, on the body of a gunidigger named Robert Booth, who was found dead in his tent in Maori Bay, Whangaparaoa, on the previous day. Mr Henry Palmer was coroner. She evidence of Sergeant Kelly, of Detfonporb, James Jordan, and Henry Clark was taken, and from their depositions it appeared that the deceased had been •.?. gumdigger for the past two years. He ha,d been living at Maori Bay for some time past, Clark and Jordan being mates of b.iu. Last Saturday evening he complained, of being, ill, and had pains in his chest] 'And shoulders. He was given some "buish" medicine, but that did him no good. On Monday evening he was much worse, and on Tuesday morning he was found lying dead in his bunk. He appeared to have died in his /sleep. He was believed to be a member of the Auckland Lumpers' Union. Ho was a single man, about thirty years of ago, and was believed to be without monf.yor property. Hβ was a native of London and has no relatives in tho colony. < The jury returned a verdict <of,'< Found dead, but that there is no medical or other evidence to show the cause of hi.s ds.ath."
