THE SECOND REPRESENTATION*
The audience, though very large, was some*, wbab apathetic lasb nighb when "The. Sorcerer" was again staged by the ' Amateur Opera Company. There was a very marked improvement in the action -ol the piece, bub the singing of the principals was hardly so good as on the first night*! Miss Buckland was some whab dashed inbbe firsb act by tbe coldness of bhe audience* and her singing had not the verve and go of; the previous evening. In the second act she brightened up considerably and sang verycreditably. ■'_, ; ,Lady Sangazure vra. much improved in', her - acting. The minuet scene with Mt! Chambers was much more gracefully per*. 1 formed by both parties lasb nighb than bhej forme*- Occasion. V Constance acted, well the .firsb night, but* confidence has improved her singing as well, and she scored a distinct, hit lasb night. '■.; Th* acting and by-pKy" of the chorus 1* now all right. They did nob stare ebout' last nighb, but ab each other. .' I . /The rest of the Company performed bheifl parts with the same excellence that cburMJ terised the firsb performance. 4 Mrs Clutsam was very successful, and re* ceived several bouquets. Her assumption of the. parb of Mrs Partletb is reallY capital. . J Bouquets were, by the way, nob plentiful, lasb nighb, bhough, of course, the principal* obtained one or two. . -The orchestra made one or two blander-.! specially in the second part. -. '
