OAMARU.
The local Committee of the New Zealand Alliance recently sent out papers to all the electors in the Oamaru electorate, with the object of taking a vote on the subject of " The Act to extend the principle of local option." The Bill was introduced into the House'last session, 868 voting papers were returned, 661 being in favour of the passing of the Bill and 131 against. Sevenfcy-six informal votes were recorded. About 300 voting papers sent out were not called for or delivered in time for the vote.
