With a view to encourage the cultivation of Literature in New Zealand, and at the same tirao provide additional attractions for the Star SPECIAL /pHRISTMAS "VTUMBER, The following Prizes will be offered for competition :— Mo. t Christmas Tales. For Talcs not exceeding in length three columns of the Stab, having special reference to Christmas time, and having the scene wholly or partially laid in New Zealand, the following prizes will be given :— First Prize ... : £3 0 0 Second Prize, handsome Volume on New Zealand, value .... 2 0 0 Ho. 2. Each competition is open to all New Zealand. 2. All contributions must be original, nob previously published, and written legibly on one side of the paper. 3. Communications must reach the Stab Office not later than 25bh November, and must in every case be accompanied by the name and addrese of the sender, which should be enclosed in separate sealed envelope, marked outside with a motto corresponding with the norn de plume attached to the competition article. 4. Competitors are requested to address their contributions " Christmas Competition (No. 1, 2, or 3 aa the case may be), Stab Office, Auckland." 5. The Proprietor of the Stax shall have the right of publishing any of the contributions sent in, whether awarded a prize or not. v 6.
