BUTCHERS' UNION.
The . ordinary meeting of the Butchers' Union was held last evening in the Rut-land-street Assembly Rooms, Mr Salmon (President) in the chair. A good deal of ordinary. routine business was trans-
acted
It was resolved that the Union pledge itself to affiliate with all the Butchers' Unions in the colony, so as to form a strong combined body.
Some of the members of the Union were accused of breaking the rules in various ways and three fines were imposed, while it was decided that one should be expelled. The Secretary, Mr Bust, mentioned the arrangements that were being made for the Demonstration on October 28th, and that £15 had been collected for the purchase of a banner for use on that day. Mr Bust spoke of resigning his position of Secretary, but the general feeling being against his doing so, he proceeded no further in. the matter.
