DEMONSTRATION AT ONEHUNGA.
On Saturday afternoon, the Trades Unions of the township, augmented by a large number of delegates and friends from Auckland, held a demonstration. Aboub three o'clock, Queen-street presented a very lively appearance, hundreds of men of various trades and callings, with a largo concourse of sightseers, lining the street. A procession was formed, headed by a brass band, and with banners flying, and to the lively strains of popular airs, the men marched down the street, presenting to the people of Onehunga a sight not often seen in that quiet township. A large number of men who joined the procession were nob men on strike, for there were the Onehunga Fire Brigade under Captain O'Hara, the ironworkers and men employed in one of the tanneries, who joinod in sympathy with bhe demonstration.
A number of speeches were given, and the best of order kept throughout.
Ab the close bhree ringing cheers were given for bhe champion of the people, Sir George Grey. The vast assemblage dispersed ab an early hour, their " outing " having been of the most pleasant description.
