THE SHEARERS' STRIKE.
EFFECT ON HOME MARKETS.
In reply to the employers' letter, proposing a conference on the basis of the minute of the Sydney meeting, the Strike Committee have answered as follows:— Thab they have decided that only a perfectly untrammelled conference can be satisfactory, and that they decline to accept the Sydney minute until tbey havo thoroughly discussed the question in conference.
A leading firm of wool brokers have cabled to ascertain whether, in view of bhe difficulties of shearing and loading wool, bhe arrivals for the nexb sale are bo be included in the catalogue. The reply is bhab there is no prospect of such a contingency, bub that if the supply proves small it is probable that tho first series of sales in '91 will open earlier than usual.
