APPPXCATION FOR DISCHARGE

Chkistchurch, thi& day. W. R. Waters, whose bankruptcy and trial for embezzlement created so much stir in commercial circles three years ago, applied for his discharge in bankruptcy today The debtor was nob present, but counsel said he was in England in poor circumstances. His Honor Mr Justice Prendergasb refused the discharge on the ground amongst others that Waters might; havo come into property in the meantime, buc granted an adjournment tyi the sitting after next, to allow inquiries to be made.

There was a very" fair attendance ab the Mftscotte Skating Rink last evening, and the rinkers appeared to enjoy themselves greatly. The music provided is excellent. In order to correct a misapprehension the management notify that invitation tickets issued for Monday last are available any time this week. * In the case of Charles B. Jeffs v. Mrs Caroline Collings, that was heard at the Onehunga R.M. Courb yesterday, the plaintiff was non-suiterl. The claim was tor £9 3s for services rendered as estate agent. Mr Brookfield appeared on behalf of the defendant. The beauteous and mysterious "Inana" is still a very potent attraction at her leveeroom fn Queen -strtiot. Last evening she had a large number of curious visitors, and this afternoon there was again quite a good attendance at her seances. She only ap pears for three nights longer.
