WAIKATO FARMERS' CLUB.
HAMILTON BRANCH.
Ok Saturday last the Hamilton branch of the Waikato Farmeie' Club met ab the Chamber of Commerce. The attendance was bub poor, owing, no doubb, to the wrebched weather, which prevented those ab a disbance coming in, the roads being in a dreadful state. The discussed were co-operation with the Knights of Labour, as to selling direct the farm produce .and doing away with middlemen. The subjecb was well bhreahod oub, and bhe general opinion seemed to be that great difficulties would crop up the moment details came to be discussed. Philanthropy in trade did not exist, ib was eaid, and ib was doubted if the execubive of the union 3 would have any power to secure exclusive dealing amongst their members. People would always buy in the cheapest markeb, and prices of surplue produce would always as now be regulabed by outside markets. Steps were taken to communicate wibh the Farmers' Union now being formed at Oainaru, wibh a view to forming a union for the whole colony. The question of lime supply was discueeed, and ib was stated thab the Governmenb would mosb likely supply 200 or 300 tons at a nominal rate in order to experiment. The question of sheep worrying by dogs was fully discussed, and steps taken to try and get a clause inserted in the Acb to give sheep owners pover to destroy dogs on identification, also to make a higher fee for all dogs except sheep, catble, and rabbit dogs. A committee was appointed to make v draft of the proposed amendments and to forward the same to Mr Bryce.
Mr B. P. Bayly read an interesting paper on the frozen meat question.
