AUCKLAND FIRE BRIGADE.
POSSIBLE REMOVAL OF STATION.
The-position of the Auckland Fire Brigade will be discussed ab bhe meeting of the City Council to-night. Somo time ago the Council asked for a reduction of the rental paid for the premises occupied by the Brigade in Albert-street. The owners objected to any reduction, but offered a long leaee on the present terms. The matter was referred to a committee for consideration with a direction to inquire into and reporb on the whole mabter of the Fire Brigade. This Committee have examined Superintendent Hughes, and after careful consideration have come.to the conclusion that by removing the station to a higher position £150 a year may be caved. They have resolved to reporb to the City Council to that ellecb.
