He took over ■the steeplechasers Recrui. and Seaweed,land also an Ingomar filly, the pony Little Hilda, .and a, small pony by Ariel. Seaweed-.waa, privately sold for £110 in Sydney, the resb being disposed of in Brisbane at) sabisfacbory prices. Recruits ran wibh varied success as already chronicled. Before leaving Sydney Mr Williams sold Recruit privabely for £205 to a Sydney solicitor, who races under the assumed name of Mr T. O'Brien. W. Habfield, and several Aucklanders who visibed the V.R.C. Grand National Meebing, were also passengers by tbe Manapouri. Melbourne papers state Leopold has been backed to win the Caulfield Cup. He is favourite at 100 to 4. Since the decease of the Hon. J. White 'there has been some anxiety to know what 'would become of his famous Kirkham stud farm. Word comes from Sydney to-day that Mrs White will retain the stud and carry it on. , W Hickenbotham was to leave Melbourne this week for Sydney, with Carbine, Titan, Prince Consort, Tormentor, and Tanballon. Titan is engaged in the Sydney Derby, and Carbine will bake part in the A J.C. weighb-for-age races nexb monbh.
