There is little fresh about the Whitcombe (Mid Totubs difficulty. Mr Whitcombe was tt passenger per Wairarapa, which left for Dunedin yesterday afternoon. It is understood that the firm are to bring an action for £5000 damages against Anthony Sellers and Co., printers of the " Trade and Labour Chronicle," for libel. At a private meeting convened in the Chamber of Commerce room nothing was done on account of the small attendance. The meeting, it was understood, was. to sat on foot a Union ot capitalists and employers of labour in Christchurch.

A large meeting of the Canterbury Branch of the Railway Employees' Society unanimously pledged themselves to faithfully tarry out the instructions of the executive in regard to Messrs Whitcombe and Tombs "Whenever called upon, and to refuse to handle the goods of the firm if necessary.
