THE MARINE OFFICERS.
end of the dispute. maritime council's proposals acceeteU The proposals of the Maritime Couhcil have, says a Wellington telegram, been accented by the Hon. G. McLean, acting on behalf of the steamship 6wn6rji, and Captaiti Highinan, secretary , of the Marine Officers , AasociatiSn, and the difficulty may pfictically be said to be at an end, though certain ooints are reserved for agreemenji by the
Shipowners' Association of Australia, of which the Union Company of New Zealand is a member. The nature of the proposals has not been allowed to transpire, but it is understood they are favourable to i both parties. Some time will elapse before they are made public. Similar proposals have been placed before the shipowners of Australia, bub even it they are not accepted it will not affect the officers employed on vessels owned in New Zealand.
