SAD FATALITY.

CAPTAIN NORRIS DROWNED

WASHED OVERBOARD.

News reached town to-day of the sad death by drowning of Captain Norris, well known in the coastal trade. Mr R. P. Chatfield, who is deceased's son-in-law, received a telegram stating that the captain had beepi washed overboard, and drowned, and adding that there were no particulars of the sad occurrence to hand. It is surmised that the drowning tcok place in Tauranga Harbour, where deceased would have been with the cutter Tokerau. ' Captain Norris is very well known in Auckland. ' He was for many years in the employ of the Northern Steamship Company, and commanded the Rowena and other steamers at various time.. He had many friends in Auckland, and was highly esteemed for the many good qualities he poßseased.
