George, Justices.) Drunkenness.—One first offender was fined 5s or in default 24 hours' hard labour.— Margaret Barstow for a similar offence was fined 10s or 48 hours, and Eliza McGinn for habitual drunkenness was sentenced to three months' hard labour.

Insulting Behaviour. —George Edward was charged with having on the 23rd of July f used insulting behaviour in a public place by offering to fight any man. He pleaded nob guilty, and said thab he had been only looking after a mate. Evidence was given by Constable Matthison as to the offence. The Bench considered the case proved, and fined the accused £1, or seven days in de-. fault. The prisoner was led out as he said, " I'd as soon havo three months if you call this justice." Stray Cow.—Mrs Holroyd was charged with having allowed her cow to stray ab ' Norbhcote.. Mr G. N. Brassey appeared for the accused and pleaded nob guilty. , ■ Evidence was given by Mr T. W. S. Purdio ■ and his son as bo seeing bhe cow straying*. Defendant was fined 2s 6d, and 13s costs.
