A CAPITAL SCHEME,

Wellington, this day. A scheme has been devised for the classification of Postal and Telegraph Departments, and a clause will be inserted in the Appropriation Acb to give effecb to ib. There are clerical and non-clerical divisions on a graduated scale. Cadets, enter,.,bhe service at sixteen years of age, and if they attain the necessary education tests their promotion will reach a maximum after 29 years of service, when they will be entitled to a salary of £400.
Yesterday the interpleader in the case of Lindsay v. Ward was heard at the R.M. Court before Dr. Giles, R.M. Dr. Laishley appeared for Mrs Ward and her sister Miss Hickey, who claimed that certain goods seized by Mrs Lindsay in execution of a judgmenb obtained by her against Mr James Ward, belonged in realiby to them and nob to Mr Ward. Evidence was heard ab some length on both sides. This afternoon Mr Napier (for Mrs Lindeay) and Dr. Laishley addreseed. bhe Court on the evidence. • '
