THE MARINE OFFICERS.

The Marine Officers' Association has declined to! accept the conditions sought to foe imposed upon them by the shipowners, that they'should >not affiliate with any labour organisation. They have asked for a conference with the owners within a fortnight. PROPOSALS BY THE MARITIME COUNCIL.

The Maritime Council, after fully discussing tlie Marine Officers' Association difficulty, interviewed both the Hon. George McLean, representing shipowners, and Captain High-nan, Secretary of bhe Association. The Council has formulated' a scheme which it is believed will prove acceptable to both parties. It is stated that both Mr Acland and Captain Highman consider the scheme deals fairly with both parties, and each has recommended its acceptance.
