DEATH OF T. B. HANNAFORD.
One by one the old identities are paseing away, and to-day it) is our lot to chronicle the death of Mr Thomas Brown Hannaford, one of the best-known men in thie city. The deceased was a native of England, and started his career as clerk in the establishment of the father of the present Sir Thomas Brassey, the wellknown railway contractor. About 36 years ago Mr Hannaford came to this colony and settled in Auckland. As an amanuensis he did an amount of work, but was mors frequently before the public as a matrimonial agent, in which capacity he was the means of uniting many couples. A few years ago Mr Hannaford invented a windmill lighthouse, which he struggled vainly to have adopted by the Government. He has been suffering from bronchitis lately, and was attended by Dr. Phileon. Last Saturday Mr Hannaford was up, but early this morning he was severely attacked by his ailment, and death resulted somewhat unexpectedly at 3.30 o'clock this morning. The funeral will take place next Thursday. Deceased leaves a widow and two sons in Auckland, the youngest child being only four years of age. There ie also a grown up family of four children by a previous marriage, all of whom reside in England,
