PHILIP HUNTSMAN'S BURIAL.
At the meeting of the Hospital and Charifc-; able Aid Board yesterday afternoon, the question of the burial of Philip Huntsman, , which caused such a scandal at the North. Shore some little time back, came up for consideration on the reading of a letter, in', which Mr Garratt, the contractor for pauper funerals, explained the circumstances attending the burial. .He states tfiat he was requested to inter the body quickly, oa' account of decomposition. He did not) I send for a minister, because the coroner's warrant was required before the intermenfr could take place, and he did not know ato what hour the same could be obtained. Hβ did not even know that a post mortem was' to be held. He should have notified a clergyman had the case been an ordinary! one ; but it was no part of his duties in the! fulfilment of hia contract. He states thab' the majority buried on this side have no service at the grave. , , Mr Mays said there appeared little excuse for Mr Garratt in this'case. ThereV was a clergyman a very few minutee , wattt : from where the funeral took place. ' ' - The letter was received. ' '
