THE MISSING SHIP MARLBOROUGH.
THE SHIP'S COMPANY.
There is now very slight doubt indeed but that tho missing Shaw-Savill ship Marlborough, bound Home from this colony, has gone down with all hands in the Southern Ocean, leaving not a soul to tell the She is now 184 days out from Lyttelton for London, and has long been posted at Lloyds as missing. Like the ill-fated ship Trevelyan, nothing more will be heard in all probability of the Marlborough. The Marlborough,a fine iron ship of 1,174 tons, set out from Lyttelton for London on January 12fch last. She had on board a valuable cargo of frozen mutton, etc., and was expecbed to make the voyage in 100 days. Nearly double that period has elapsed and no tidings have come to hand of the vessel, and the agents have long since given out that they believe that she has been lost with all' hands. The following is a list of those on board when she left Lytbelton in January last: — Mrs W. B. Anderson, passenger, of Dunedin ; W. Hird, master; Alexander Samuel, first mate ; H. Phillips, second mate; W. Le Seur, third mate; Alexander Scott, refrigerating engineer; John Lax, assistant engineer; James Gavin, carpenter; W. Cowie, sinker ; Isaac Potack, steward; Mrs Potack, stewardess; D. Blyth, cook; H. T. Wilson, H. Traphers, H. Tell, P. Gilbransen, W. Charman, E. A. Petersen, F. Thornton and Charles Williamson, A.Bs, ; Victor Ockerman and Thomas Spalding,O.S. Her cargo consisted of 1,981 bales wool and two bales skins, shipped by Messrs Miles and Co., G. Kettlewell, Colonial Bank of New Zealand, National Mortgage and Agency Company, Murray, Roberts, and Co., N. Z. and A. Land Company and G. Clark ; 10,362 carcases of mutton and 969 carcases lambs, shipped by the N.Z. and A. Land Company and the National Mortgage and Agency Company. The apprentices, of whom Captain W. Aehby's young nephew waa one, are not given in the above list.
