FOOTBALL.

To-morrow afternoon the firsb Cup matches of the Auckland Senior Rugby Union will t&ke place at Potter's Paddock, Epsom. It is possible that the PonsonbyNorth Shore match will fall through, owing to the decision of the Management; committee of the Union that the Devonporfc men must play half their matches ab Epsom. A gocd contest is expected between Grafton and Gordon,, and the Selwyn - Auckland match should also be interesting. The Athletic (winners of last year's Junior Cup) meet Native Rose (winners of the Junior Rugby Union's Cup last year), and a tough match may be expected, wirdoa 11. play Orient, Ponsonby «• play Wanderers, and perhaps Is orth. Shore 11. will play Grafton 11. At the meeting of the Management Committee of the Union last evening a communication was read from the Taranaki Union, saying that their representatives would not be in Auckland till near the end of the present season. It was decided that North Shore should play their matches at Epsom till the ground at Devonporb should bo pub right, and should then play alternately at Epsom and Devonporb. The North Shore men have since held a meeting, and have decided to retire from the Cup contest. Ponsonby will therefore stand oub to-morrow.

The annual meeting of the Kawakawa F.C. was held on April 26th, when the following officers were elected :—President, T. P. Moody, Esq. ; vice - presidents, Bishop, J, D. Harris, Esq.; captain, E. Keatley; secretary, F. J. Ohlson; treasurer, J. Fairley; committee with the above ex officio, E. Lee", J. Russell, S. Neil, and H. Middleton.

Great interest is centred in the forthcoming match with the Gordon F.C, which has been fixed for the end of June, and the Club is going in for steady practice with the Ngapuhi F.C. As there is a likelihood of clubs being formed ab Russell by S. Guird, an old Grafbon boy, and ab Hukerenui by Edward Nehua (late of the Native 'Team), probably a North Auckland Union will be the next etep to further the cause of the good old winter game in the North.
