DEFENDED CASES.

Murdoch Ross v. D. Gouk.—Claim, £24 for amount of dishonoured p.'n. with interest.—Mr T. Cooper for plaintiff and Mr Brassey for defendant.—Plaintiff was called and gave evidence as to the note having been given him, and to its having been dishonoured. The note was put in subjecb to Mr Brassey's objection that ifc was not stamped in accordance with the provisions of the Act.—David Gouk was called by Mr Brassey and gave his version of the circumstances under which the promissory note wae given.—Mr Brassey addressed the Court for the defence, but His Worship said Mr Cooper need not reply and gave judgment for the amount claimed with costs £3 12s.

Daniel Connell v. Arthur Young.— Claim £2, for money lent.—Mr Theo. Cooper appeared for plaintiff, and Mr J. Stewart for defendant. — After hearing the evidence of plaintiff and two other witnesses, and of the defendant, judgment was given for plaintiff, with costa 16s 6d.
