NEW SOUTH WALES V. CANTER BURY.

On Saturday afternoon wo left this match with Canterbury all out for 218, ami Cottam and Cowper at the wickets for Now South Wales' second innings with the score at 43 for no wickets. Immediately after lunch Cottatn gave Wilding the balloff Ashby. 49—1—1 G. McCliachy came in, and changes in the bowline , had little effect, 60, 70, 80 and 90 coming up, till at 96 Labatfc caught Cowper in the slips ofFHarman, after a fine free innings. 96—2—54. Youill came in, and the score still mounted, but at 112 McGiinchy hit Wilding out to his wickob after having made 30. Davis followed, and the score rose quickly till he was bowled by Wilding 144—4 —20. Robinson got in in time to see Youill bowled by Harman. ]47 —5—21. Callaway came in, but ab I£s went out for 7. Newell took tho vacancy and was clean bowled, by Havman. Shepherd made 13 and went with tho S2ore ab 189. Clarko followed and a tine stand was made, both men scoring fasb and playing good cricket. At last ab 270 Clarke was stumped by Wheatley. Josephs came in, but at 279 his wicket fell, leaving Robinson not out for 61. The score was : —

This left Canterbury 225 to win. Helmore and Whoatley played out time for 8 runs.

The New South Wales men were entertained at a smoke concert on Saturday

evening. The match is to. be continued to-day.
