A SOUVENIR OF AUCKLAND.

After the presentation at the Inlpftfi&i Hotel on Saturday evening of the prizes fed the successful competitors in the late athletic sports, Mr H. IT. Davy, so well known for a number of years past .in football and athletic , circles generally in Auckland, was entertained by the members of the Amateur Athletic Club at a smoke concert, he being about to take up a position in Wellington. There were a. considerable number of gentlemen present, and Mr 11. Garrefct ojio of the Vice-Presi-dents, of the Club, occupied the chair, being supported by the two other Viee-Presidehts, Messrs J. Logan and L. Coupland.

Previous to the presentation to Mr Davy, Mr Garrett, on behalf of the Jubilee Coiri; mittee, presented to Captain McMillan, of the ship Canterbury, a handsome silver speaking trumpet, as a recognition of his kindness in lending his vessel as flagship during Regatta Day. Captain McMillan suitably replied.

After a .few songs and toasts, Mr Garretb called on Mr B. J. Esam to propose the health of the departing guest, Mr Davy. Mr Esam referred in glowing terms to the part-taken by Mr Davy'in the football field* and in the Athletic Club; and on behalf of the Club wished him every success in his new sphere of labour, with a hope that he would soon return to Auckland. Messrs Shera (Mr Davy's laut employer), Logaa, and J, Arneil (captain of the Ponsonby Football Club), also spoke to the toast, and after it was drunk wifch three times three, Mr Garrett presented to Mr Davy a handsome gold albert wibh lockofc attached. Mr Davy was Visibly affected by the expressions of goodwill with which he was received, and replied briefly and with feeling.

A number of other toasts were given, including the health of the Secretary and Treasurer, Messrs Halyday and Esam, and that of Mr H. R. George. Songs and recitations were given throughout the evening by Messrs YVhite, Jeffreys, H. Kissling, 11. Goldwater and others.
