CONCERT, FORESTERS' HALL.

The Church of Christ choir, assisted by various friends, gave an excellent concert last evening in the Foresters' Hall, Kara&gahape Road. Unfortunately, the attendance was not large. The choir, conducted by Mr Slinn, rendered the following anthems : " Nunc Diinittis in C" (Ebdon), "My God, Look Upon Me" (Reynolds), and "Hear, Me, OLord." Tl»ia anthem is the composition of Miss Lester, a young lady who resides in this city. The harmony'in the piece is pleasing, and the whole composition reflects credit upon the composer. The terzetto, "Lift Up Thine Eyes," from Mendelssohn's "Elijah," was nicely sung by Misses Dixon, Lester, and Jarvis. The air "In Native Worth '' (Haydn's "Creation") was sung by Mr King, and Miss May King rendered the sacred solo "Pass Under the Rod." A "Christmas Carol " was sung by Miss Lyle,- while Messrs Boyea and Blotfc played a duet on the violin and piano, the selection, being Mendelssohn's composition. Mr S. Adams was encored for his performance of an arrangement of "The Sweeb By and By" for the piano. The second part of the programme was secular. An instrumental quartet, piano, violin, flute and 'cello, was played by Miss Lester and Messrs Boyes, McKean and Blott. A " Romanza " was nicely played on the flute by Mr P. McKean, and Mr R. S. Boyes evinced considerable ability in his performance of Dr. Beriot's first air on the violin The audience were so pleased that 'the soloist was recalled to bowhie acknowledgments- The following songs were also pleasingly rendered :—" Love!s Golden Dream," Miss G. Heron; "The Ferry," Miss Dixon ; " The Owl,' Mr h. Walton ; "The Skipper," Mr George j and ••Jack's Yarn," Mr S. Hipkins.
